Jaime... Bubby... Hubble...

Hubble was one of a kind, a truly amazing person. I know we use phrases like that all too often, but with Jaime, it is absolutely true. If you were blessed enough to meet Jaime, you remembered that moment for the rest of your life.

The smile. That cat that just ate the bird grin. That smile. And the laugh. Oh the laugh! When he laughed, well, if you were anywhere near him, you laughed too. That’s just the way it was. Hubble was a big boy, intimidating almost, that is, if you didn’t know him. But if you did, you knew he was one of, if not the nicest, sweetest people you’d ever meet. He’d give you the shirt off his back, his pants too, if need be. And then he’d ask, what else can I do for you??? That’s just who he was.

Hubble gave me some of my most cherished memories of my lifetime. Working with him... Hangin’ with him... And of course, playing with him. I haven’t seen Jaime in quite a few years, but I always felt in my heart of hearts that we’d be together again for another jam. I still truly believe that, it will just have to be in a different venue.

The voice of Endless Flight. His voice. You didn’t need to see who was on stage singing, if you were within earshot, you knew... It was Hubble. His lyrics and voice touched so many, strangers and friends alike. Once you heard it, you were a stranger no longer. When you heard him sing, you couldn’t help but smile. You couldn’t help but tap your foot. You couldn’t help it, you had to get up and dance!

Good foot stompin’ music
For all the boys who want to get real wild
The girls in all their glory
Are gonna be shakin’ it in the isle

(Jaime Ortiz/Endless Flight – Rockin’ to Feel Good)

He created the soundtrack of my life, of so many. A gift he gave freely, unselfishly to so many. A gift that made your day, your life, better. No matter how bad it was going to that point, once he started singing, things just got better. I will miss you my dear friend, dearest Hubble, more than you will ever, ever know. You changed my life, and all of those around me, forever, a gift I can never repay.

Just remember I’ll always be there
Always for the rest of your life
(For the rest of your life)
Just remember I’ll always be there
Always for the rest of your life
(For the rest of your life)

(Jaime Ortiz/Endless Flight – For the Rest of Your Life)

Drive like Jaime.
